At this time our only “hands-on” opportunities are for NY state-licensed wildlife rehabbers.
UUWR started with just three devoted rehabbers who shared a dream to create a network of rehabbers to share the overwhelming work of at-home rehab. We are building our organization from the ground up; we are not government-funded and we rely entirely on the help of our supporters. Here are a few ways you can get involved:
OUTDOOR SPACE: Currently, one of our biggest needs is to find space for outdoor caging. We have prepared a document to introduce what we need, for landlords and organizations who can spare a bit of land, or roof, for an inconspicuous cage. Info can be found here.
VETERINARIANS: We also need more veterinarians to work with us, either pro-bono or at a discounted fee. We welcome all vets with an interest in wildlife! More info about what we need from veterinarians can be found here. Please don't hesitate to contact us with any questions!
PROFESSIONAL SERVICES: We often need the following professional services donated:
Fundraising
Event entertainment and catering
Goods for fundraising auctions and raffles
Graphic design and artwork
Grant writing
Volunteering for our text hotline (currently suspended due to lack of volunteers)

FUNDING: The generous support of our donors is how we pay for veterinary care, supplies, caging and food, this website, insurance, all our administration needs, educational programming and more!
